Saturday, December 5, 2020 - CANCELLED
Who’s ready for some fun? We’ve got an entire day’s worth for you on Saturday, December 5th at WinterFest! This event will sprawl across the parking lots of the Festus Public Library and the 1st UMC church and along Main Street from Mill to Walnut Streets. Guests can go ice skating - $2 for 30 minute session or $1 for 30 mins with your own skates, visit the petting zoo (bring change to feed the animals), or ride in horse drawn carriages down historic Main Street that will be aglow with holiday decorations - rides are $5 per person or 4 people for $20. During the day, visit the face painters and balloon twister between 10am - 4pm. Be sure to stop at the 1st UMC stand for a special gift for the kids! The Concessionaire Extraordinaire will be on site to take care of all your snacking and food/drink needs. Craft vendors will be there to help you make a dent in your holiday shopping! Did we mention Santa? What’s a holiday event without him?!? Make a plan to spend some time visiting with him at the Santa House during the afternoon. Members of the Festus Street Dept, the Festus Fire Dept, Festus Police Dept, Joachim Plattin Ambulance District, and the 220th MO National Guard Unit will be on hand from 10am - 4pm with equipment and are looking forward to visiting with all who stop by! We will have an area set up for performers with socially distanced chairs for guests, but feel free to sit where you can find a bit of space to enjoy these acts: a juggler at noon, a hula hooping Sugar Plum Fairy at 2pm, Jack Frost the magician at 4pm, and a fire performer at 6pm. Don’t think that’s all! There will be characters roaming the area for photo opportunities throughout the afternoon. Keep an eye out for a snowman from 1-2pm, Tappy the Penguin from 3-4pm, and the Abominable Snowman from 5-6pm.
WinterFest is sponsored by the Festus Tourism Commission.
