Completed Projects

During the summer of 2007 numerous City streets were overlayed with asphalt and Holly Drive received a complete reconstruction.  Sanitary sewer lines and water lines were also replaced in parts of the City.

All of the streets and parking areas in West City Park were paved during the summer of 2007.  This will help visitors have a more enjoyable experience while visiting West City Park to walk, bicycle, picnic or just enjoy the outdoors.  

The bridge/box culvert on West Main Street has been replaced.  The original structure was built in the 1930's with an addition added after that time.  The new structure is capable of carrying more weight and will vastly improve storm water control in the area. 

2008 Major Street Repairs

All of the following streets will undergo major work this summer:

Lee Avenue:  new water lines, storm sewer work, sidewalks on north side, asphalt paving
Walnut Street:  new water lines, storm sewer and box culvery work, some sidewalks and 
                          ashpalt paving
Ann Street: asphalt overlay between 7th and 9th Sts.
Park Drive:  asphalt overlay between N. 3rd & N. 5th Sts.
S. 2nd Street:  asphalt overlay between Alice and Spring Sts.
Chestnut Street:  asphalt overlay between N. 2nd & W. Main Sts.
Clyde Street: asphalt overlay between Schumer and Brothers Sts.
S. 4th Street:  asphalt overlay between S. Mill and S. Adams Sts.
Valentine Street:  asphalt overlay between Central & Sunnyside
Redwood:  asphalt overlay south of Westwood

The following streets will be added onto list, if money allows.  Otherwise, they are to be done on 2009:

Tanglewood Acres: asphalt overlay of original subdivision street
Forrest Street:  new base of rock and  asphalt overlay
Vine Street:  asphalt overlay north of 9th St
Edwards:  new base of rock and asphalt overlay

The following streets will undergo spot and/or intersection repairs:

Behring at S. Adams
Barbara:   on curve
American Legion Drive:  remove and repair raised concrete joints
Hillcrest
Parkview
Gamel Cemetery Rd.:  between Bradley and intersection with Pounds Rd.
Alice & S. 3rd Sts.:  intersection
Spring Ave. & S. 2nd St.:  intersection
East Ave. & N. 3rd St.:  intersection
Alexander Heights:  some concrete squares replaced
Locust St.:  some concrete squares replaced

2009 Projects Being Planned

N. Mill St. from north of N. 9th St. to Main St. and N. 5th St. from Mill St. to Sunshine Drive wil undergo a total reconstruction in 2009.  Water mains and lines will be replaced, sidewalks added and repaired, storm sewers upgraded, complete asphalt overlay of streets and replacement of the retaining wall along the railroad tracks are all part of the project.  This project will cost almost $980,000.00, and is being paid for with 80% federal funding and 20% City funding.
