The City of Festus with a population of 9,660, is one the fastest growing communities in Jefferson County.  The city has a large interstate highway that intersects it and several large retail plazas.  The city is located approximately 25 miles south of St. Louis.  The police department has 27 full time officers, 7 dispatchers, 1 administrative assistant, and 2 clerical workers.
