The City of Festus with a 2010 census population of 11,602 is one the fastest growing communities in Jefferson County.  The city has a large interstate highway that intersects it and several large retail plazas.  The city is located approximately 30 miles south of downtown St. Louis.  The police department has 28 full time officers, 8 dispatchers, 1 administrative assistant, and 2 clerical workers.
